Sony drops the price of the new Blu-Ray player by 100$. The official price announced at Febrary was $599, but now the real price is lowered to $499.

BDP-S300 is half the price of the Sony’s first Blu-ray player (BDP-S1, $999, today about $799).

This is indeed the result of the increased competition in the “war of formats”: recently Toshiba cut the prices of some HD-DVD player models down to $299.

The re-mastering process will better preserve the original film image in digital form, though the Blu-ray releases will still be distributed in 1080p form.

From Blu-Ray.com news

Joanna has just finished re-shooting her scenes from the original BLADE RUNNER movie. Joanna is wearing her original outfit (which she kept over from the first production). These new scenes will be part of the upcoming special BLADE RUNNER re-release.
