Sun releases JavaFX compiler

Sun has released moves the JavaFX to open source and releases the source code for the OpenJavaFX compiler.

The compiler enables JavaFX Script code to be compiled into Java code.

Un updated plugin for developing JavaFX applications inside JavaBeans IDE is available too.

Nero for Linux burns Blu-Ray Discs

Nero for Linux 3, released some week ago from the Nero company, is able to write Blu-Ray Discs.

The Linux version of this popular burning software exists since 2005, and is now comparable to the windows version in terms of funcionalities and features.

The version 3 offers support for Blu-Ray, HD-DVD and 64bit hw platforms.

Nero Linux 3 as RPM or DEB package is on sale for 20 EUR. Trial version is available for free download.

MHC, OCAP and Java-TV technologies are covered.

There is a really good introduction to Xlets, that describes the Xlet interface, xlet lifecycle and the Xlet Contexts. It is well written and shows nice and easy to understand diagrams too.

Personal Basis Profile specification

BD-J technologies are based on the Jsr 129 released by the sun developer network.

Jsr 129 defines the Personal Basis Profile, a J2ME application environment for network-connected devices supporting a basic level of graphical presentation.

The last specification is a Maintenance Release dated 19 Dec, 2005.

JavaFX is a new family of Sun products based on Java technology and targeted at the rich content market. The will be open source projects, within two scopes: JavaFX script and JavaFX mobile.
